Welcome and Instructions - PLEASE READ THESE

Welcome to our message boards. Hopefully, this will be a useful tool for us all, in staying clean. Like all online forums, it's really a work in progress and will evolve according to our needs.

For those who have no experience of this medium: This is just like a message board you would find in a community centre: One person pins a message up, then others come along and read it.

This is not a chat room, where you can actually communicate in real time.

You don't have to register if all you want to do is browse the few Forums that are visible to you. But if you do want to post messages & join in, then register [it's FREE] The button is at the top of this page.

All you need to provide is a username & a real email address*.  We advise that you do not use your real full name.  Then enter a password for your account.  You do not need to answer the rest of the questions however if you are or believe you may be an addict please do give us your cleantime birthday if you have one (not your date of birth) but please dont worry about this as the only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using.

With regard to anonymity, it is worth considering the username (also referred to as member name or account name) that you choose to sign in with and have displayed both in the forum and the chat room.  If you wish to remain anonymous then please pick a name that isn't associated with other social networking websites, such as facebook, yahoo and microsoft live groups.

Do NOT put any website links or email addresses in your signature or profile anywhere. These will automatically STOP you being allowed to register. This is to combat spammers.

Press 'submit' at the bottom. Then you are nearly done!

*You will then be sent an email, with a link, which you click on to activate your account [because of this, you mustn't make even the smallest mistake when typing your email address. Remember, no spaces at all, and even every dot is crucial, otherwise you won't receive the activation email].

Any problems with the forums please email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Now you can log on using your username & password, then reply to other's or start a new topic, if you feel like it.

When in the forum, to get out of each Topic, you can either click 'Back' on your browser controls or: See just above each forum message in the top left part of the screen? there's a link in the top left corner of text with the words Board Index. Click on that. Or the blue logo top-left. Then you can click on another category and take it from there.

If you post something, which you later have second thoughts about, you can edit it. You'll notice, next to your own posts, a button in the bottom right corner marked 'edit'. Click on that. [It is good practice to mention you've edited your post & the reasoning behind your decision]

Please read all topics in this section, especially the full Guidelines and Registration Agreement Terms, set out below. By registering you agree to these terms.

WELCOME TO THE UKNA FORUMS

We are recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean.
This is a program of complete abstinence from all drugs. There is only one requirement for membership, the desire to stop using. We suggest that you keep an open mind and give yourself a break.

Our program is a set of principles written so simply that we can follow them in our daily lives. The most important thing about them is that they work.

We are not interested in what or how much you used or who your connections were, what you have done in the past, how much or how little you have, but only in what you want to do about your problem and how we can help.

There is one thing more than anything else that will defeat us in our recovery; this is an attitude of indifference or intolerance toward spiritual principles. Three of these that are indispensable are honesty, open-mindedness, and willingness. With these we are well on our way.

Unity is one of our greatest strengths in carrying the message. Unity of purpose keeps our focus on carrying the message. As groups, we work together to ensure not only our own personal recovery but the recovery of every NA member. The evidence of many addicts staying clean and
seeking our common good is very persuasive. We don’t recover alone.
In anonymity, our personal differences are insignificant compared to our primary purpose.

When we come together as a group, our first task is to carry the message; all else ought to be set aside. Groups can practice the Fifth Tradition by reminding their members that the recovery message, not individual personalities, is primary in Narcotics Anonymous.

Sixth Tradition tells us some of the things we must do to preserve and protect our primary purpose.
This Tradition is the basis for our policy of non-affiliation and is extremely important to the continuation and growth of Narcotics Anonymous.

The Spirit of the Traditions ask that groups carry the message to addicts. As individuals, we are asked in the steps to apply principles in all our affairs; This is also important in our actions as groups. To help us observe the Fifth Tradition we carry a message with integrity, responsibility, unity, and anonymity .

Anyone who cannot follow these rules will be subject to their access privileges being revoked for a time frame of 30 days, repeated violations after such a suspension will result.
